There's an unspoken hierarchy in a lot of churches. Pastors and missionaries do ministry. Everyone else has a job that pays for ministry. Work is the thing you get through so the real stuff can happen in the evenings.
That idea is not in the Bible.

Where your life actually happens
You will spend something like 90,000 hours of your life at work.
